THE HOT BOX, JYVÄSKYLÄN KESÄ

The overall piece was created live situation and built from four partially independent elements:

​1. Partly pre-planned shibari bondage.

2. Music - 5 deliberately diverse tracks played in random order.

3. Filming online.

4. Space: a wooden cube, The Hot Box.

The performers and studio director did not hear the music during the performance. It was audible only to the audience and affected only their experience.

The final work asks, how do our preconceptions on one hand and the form of the performance on the other affect us when viewing so-called kinky material? How did the performance elements guide the viewing experience? What do we see in the performance? What do we want to see in the performance? Is it really there? What do we not want to see in the performance that is actually there?
